Description
"Carousel" by Thom Zewhrfeld
The modern carousel comes from the 18th Century. However, it probably got its roots in the medieval ages through jostling. Folks would ride horses around in circles and toss balls at each other. It was a sort of a military preparation thing to sharpen one's skills. Well, today folks still run around in circles, while others throw balls at each other! The American word carousel comes from the French word carrousel and, the Italian word carosello. Most refer to it as a "Merry-Go-Around"! Besides horses, there can be pigs, zebras, tigers or, other animals forms. They are mounted on stable posts and, move up and down simulating galloping, to the accompaniment of music. This image has been converted to High Dynamic Range by combining three different exposures to give the image more detail and color. Texture was added for a unique final image!
